The biggest tragedy of the 21st century, in my opinion, is not that we are living in a global depression, where countless people are struggling to barely meet ends, but that we have truly forgotten what it means to Human.
I am part of a generation that admires people who -
1. Mess up their minds, bodies, and souls with drugs
2. Talk about materialistic possessions and ‘brands’ as the ultimate symbolism of happiness and success, and
3. Take every opportunity to disrespect their fellow human beings and planet, feeling better about themselves.
Is that what it means to be human?
So many times, I hear people blame their failures and weaknesses on the fact that they are ‘only human’. This brings up the question – What does it mean to be human? What ARE we truly capable of?
If ‘being human’ identifies you with mediocrity and weakness, then what about the legends of history? What about people like Mahatma Gandhi, who gained freedom for millions of Indians. What about people like Martin Luther King? People like Steve Jobs, whose single lifetime has defined the movies we watch, the technology we use, and the music we listen to? What about genius’s like Albert Einstein and Thomas Edison? ARE WE NOT MADE OF THE SAME FLESH AND BONE AS THEM?
The biggest lie of our time, is that we can’t do, have, and be ANYTHING we want. The truth of the matter, at LEAST in my opinion, is that the legends of our world went down in history because they DEFINED THEIR DREAMS, BELIEVED IN THEMSELVES, and quite simply refused any alternative to their dreams outside of death.
The truth is that ALL of our power lies in our hearts. We all have UNIQUE dreams, and UNIQUE talents. THERE IS NO SINGLE EXAMPLE OF THE PERFECT HUMAN, no matter how media and magazines tend to pitch their models and celebrities to us. We were all born perfect, with all the answers we could ever ask for embedded inside of us, at our core.
I decided my goal in life, especially with this blog, is to remind my species what it means to be human. What it means to selflessly love every object, person, and animal as parts of ourselves. What it means to put our life on the line for what we believe in, and for chasing the dreams that we TRULY DESIRE. If you are willing to die for what you want, you will either get it, or die trying. Guess what? You are going to die anyway.
I have spent countless hours studying the origins of our species, what we are truly capable of, and what our place is on this planet. Let me tell you a secret -
‘The purpose of life, is a life of purpose‘ – Robin Sharma
You don’t have to be a great looking model, or a Billionaire, to be called successful. All that matters is that you KEEP EVOLVING. Keep growing consistently everyday.
In my opinion, Earl Nightingale put it best -
What is your ideal? Are you simply settling for working in the name of ‘security’ and ‘comfort’? Living under the illusion that you own your body and the physical objects around you? Being at the point of death more times than one, Sorry to be the own to tell you, YOU DONT.
Once death greets you, the only things that will matter are the memories you created, the love you shared, and the goals you crushed. I hope this article serves as a wake up call for you, and that you take the decision to silence your chattering mind, and listen to the rhythms of your heart. All the answers lie within. This moment, RIGHT NOW, is your opportunity to listen, and decide to START LIVING AGAIN!
Always wishing for your best future,
