How to Beat Plateaus -
Have you ever wondered how you could overcome those plateaus you face everyday in life? Getting unsatisfactory results from fields of work you ‘specialize’ in, or in fields that you have just dipped your toe into? Maybe your body hasn’t been transforming as quickly in the gym, or you haven’t made as much money as usual in your business?
Don’t fret, as this is a very common problem in our society today, and its cause is simply a part of human nature.You have already taken the first step, which is admitting that your results are not satisfactory. There is only one step to take from there, which is very simple….
Remember how much more fun whatever you are doing now was when you first started it? That excitement, and those feelings of discomfort and pain? Those are what give you results. Humans are not built to follow routines and repeat the same things we do everyday, but are actually are built to constantly switch things up. This is why new toys (Be it a new laptop, house, car, etc. for us) always excite us the most, while we tend to ditch old ones. You have to clear out the old, to make way for the new.
Make some changes guys! You already knew the answer didn’t you? Guess what, you didn’t. If you did, you wouldn’t have had to search for help in the first place. One of the biggest misconceptions people have today, is not knowing that they don’t know something. So, when do we know if we know something? Simple. When you can reteach it. So, unless you can teach somebody else to beat plateaus in life, and explain to them in SIMPLE terms why it works the way it does, you should keep reading.
Do you guys think you can keep repeating what you have been so far, and eventually beat the plateau? No. Eventually, without any change, you will start to make ZERO PROGRESS. This means that all your effort will be put into just maintaining the results you have gotten till said point.
Why is change important? Because according to the dictionary, it is literally INSANE to do the same things over and over again, expecting different results each time. So repeating workouts, and making no changes in your approaches, will result in plateaus. This principle can be applied to anything you do.
‘But I tried EVERYTHING!’. No you didn’t. A better way to put that phrase, is ‘Everything I have done TILL NOW, has failed’. There is only ONE way to truly fail, which is to stop trying different approaches and actually do nothing, and/or quit. So, if you are avoiding those two, and are staying motivated and positive towards making your dreams a reality, you WILL succeed. You are not making progress, unless whatever you do still makes you feel challenged/uncomfortable.
So now that you have the answer, stop making excuses and try out something new. Take advice from a new source, or get back to doing some personal development. In this universe you get anything you want when you are ready for it. So trying to force different results, won’t yield any. Do new things, learn new lessons, and become truly ready.
Don’t do the exact same things that your parents and grandparents have done in the past, and expect different results. If you want to something different, then do something different! There is nothing wrong with modeling successful people, but make sure to do your best in avoiding the mistakes they have already made, and don’t JUST copy them. Like I say – “Don’t waste your time reinventing the wheel, get busy coming up with the first car”
This is where ego comes into play, and hinders the growth of most people. Ego puts you into a trap of narrow mindedness, where you will close off valuable knowledge and opportunities that could immediately make your dreams a reality. YOU DONT KNOW EVERYTHING. Even a farmer has something to teach you. The person in the room who thinks he knows more than anybody else, and always refuses to listen, is usually the dumbest.
Stop being judgmental, wasting your time constantly focusing on what others are doing, and divert your attention towards improving yourself, and making your own dreams a reality. “By allowing your own light to shine, you unconsciously give permission to others around you to the do the same”
So keep your minds open, and try new approaches. Try new workouts and/or exercise variations, fire people who have been holding you back (In work and your social circles), and get advice from new/legible sources (Don’t listen to a guy with a belly giving you advice on building a 6 pack).
The journey is always the best part, so embrace the discomfort/pain of new situations and new approaches, knowing that they are all going to pay off. You have made it so far already, so why not keep going and get rewarded for it? Don’t give up or slow down, but keep Failing Fast Forward (FFF. The secret to success). Believe in yourselves, because I personally ASSURE you that you can make all of your dreams a reality. The only true obstacle is yourself, so get that out of the way, and you will be unstoppable.
